Ellul 5786 2026 Resources


To My dedicated Readers and fellow students of life,


Elul is the season of return. But perhaps the deepest return is not to who we once were, but to who we are still capable of becoming. There is something unusually hopeful about the Jewish calendar: it never allows the past to have the final word. Each year Elul arrives and reminds us that however far we have travelled, however distracted we have become, however many promises we have made and failed to keep, we are always invited to begin again. The question is not only Where have I been? but Where do I want to go from here? Not only what have I done? but who can am I being called to become?

I’ve gathered together here some of my Elul and Yamim Noraim teachings from over the years in the hope that an idea, a question or a shiur might accompany you through this extraordinary season. My blessing to all of us as we enter the new year is that we find the courage to ask the questions that matter, the humility to listen for the answers, and the faith to remember that we are never finished becoming.
